Musical Groups
Brass Ensemble
The University Brass Ensemble is comprised of Nebraska Wesleyan University students and varies in instrumentation from large to small, depending upon the requirements of the literature being performed.
The Brass Ensemble performs a wide variety of music, from classical to pop. On occasion, the ensemble includes percussionists as well. The group performs one concert each semester on campus, and frequently performs off campus, at such venues as the lighting of the State Christmas tree at the Nebraska State Capital.

Chamber Singers
This is a small mixed choral ensemble with 18-22 auditioned singers participating. Music and non-Music majors traditionally participate. The fall semester is dedicated to presenting the Elizabethan Feast, a madrigal feast presentation involving music, dance, comedia, early instruments and period costumes. During the spring semester, the ensemble performs a wide variety of music from madrigals, vocal jazz, gospel, broadway to twentieth century chamber music.

Flute Ensemble
Flute ensemble is for anyone who enjoyed playing flute in high school and would like to continue playing in a group situation. We rehearse an hour a week and perform on the ensemble concert at the end of each semester. You will have an opportunity to learn the alto flute or bass flute if you are interested. Often there are other performance opportunities off-campus during the semester.

Jazz Ensemble
The Nebraska Wesleyan Jazz Ensemble performs a wide variety of big band jazz music each semester and provides members with an opportunity to learn more about jazz improvisation. All Nebraska Wesleyan students may audition.

Lincoln Civic Choir
Lincoln Civic Choir is an adult choral ensemble of singers from Nebraska, Iowa and Kansas. The choir presents a concert series annually and is in residence at Nebraska Wesleyan University. Enrolled NWU students may participate in the Civic Choir with permission from Civic Choir Music Director.

Lincoln Civic Orchestra
The Lincoln Civic Orchestra
is a symphonic orchestra comprised of the finest amateur
musicians from Lincoln and the surrounding communities.
The orchestra serves as both a community ensemble and
as the University orchestra, with membership open to
all Nebraska Wesleyan University students.
The orchestra performs three concerts a year in O'Donnell Auditorium on the campus of Nebraska Wesleyan University and travels to other communities with concert presentations. The orchestra's concerts consist of repertoire from the standard orchestral literature and guest soloists are frequently featured. One of the hallmarks of the LCO is its spirit of collaboration with other arts organizations to create unique concert opportunities.

Opera Workshop
The Department of Music offers Opera Scenes/Opera Workshop to give students experience with age-appropriate operatic repertoire. Topics covered include acting for opera, audition skills, stage movement, character development, performance preparation and profiling, memorization, score study, and directing.

Recorder Consort
The NWU Recorder Consort is composed of mainly students who enjoy early music. The group performs with the Chamber Singers for the Medieval Feaste presentations in November/December and on a formal concert in the spring. They have also done some demonstrations for grade schools in the area.

Membership in the Symphonic Band is open to all students and represents a true cross-section of the Nebraska Wesleyan University student population. It provides personal musical growth opportunities for its members through participation in performances of the highest level.

Touch of Class
Touch of Class is Nebraska Wesleyan's Swing/Show/Jazz Choir. They also perform excerpts from musical theatre. This select group tours throughout Nebraska and takes an annual trip to different regions in the United States.

The Nebraska Wesleyan University
Choir is a select 53-voice ensemble, where more than
half the members are music majors. The choir is recognized
throughout the country as well as internationally for
