Meet Megan Cost and Aid College Prep What's different about campus tours at NWU?

Liberal arts

Wouldn't it be nice if Nebraska Wesleyan offered a class on how to be a college student?

Well, we do. And it's the first one you'll take at NWU: the Liberal Arts Seminar (LAS).

Each LAS covers a different topic, ranging from comic books to classical Greece. But no matter what topic you choose, your Liberal Arts Seminar will build your critical thinking and prepare you for college level expectations in reading, writing and speaking.

Your LAS professor will also be your academic advisor until you declare a major. That way, you will know your advisor right away.

LAS classes also have student instructors—upperclassmen who can serve as mentors as you get used to college life. They can answer the questions you just don’t want to ask a professor.

LAS topics change a little from year to year. But here’s a glimpse at this year’s classes.

    • The Necessity of Wilderness
    • Status and Murder: Class Systems and the Mystery Novel
